SC VivoCity – a shopping mall jointly developed by Saigon Co.op Investment Development Joint Stock Company and Mapletree Investments Pte Ltd – has officially been awarded the LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) under the LEED O+M: Existing Buildings v4.1 category. This recognition marks SC VivoCity as the first shopping mall in Vietnam to achieve certification in this category.

Unlike LEED BD+C, which applies to new construction or major renovation projects, or LEED ID+C, which is designed for commercial interior design and construction, LEED O+M is an international standard that evaluates and recognizes existing buildings for their outstanding performance in improving operational efficiency and maintaining sustainability throughout building operations and maintenance. The assessment criteria include water efficiency, energy performance, waste management, material quality, transportation, indoor air quality, and overall indoor environmental quality.

Since its establishment, SC VivoCity has continuously implemented improvements, particularly in energy efficiency. In 2021, SC VivoCity successfully installed a renewable energy system, achieving energy savings of up to 6.8% of the mall’s total electricity consumption.
